Virtual Imaging Evaluation Workspace (VIEW), an NIH-funded consortium comprised of ACRIN, CALGB, and QARC, was established to provide imaging core laboratory services to the NCI-funded cooperative groups, the imaging research community, and the cancer research community.
VIEW was successful in developing an IT infrastructure that allowed for interoperability between the IT infrastructure of each consortium member. The infrastructure integration among the members included the exchange of image data, as well as image transfer, management and analysis services across the consortium. In addition, VIEW developed harmonized standards for image acquisition and assessment of imaging endpoints in cancer clinical trials.
During the 3-year grant period, VIEW developed standardized operating procedures for:
- Patient Preparation and FDG Administration Procedure for VIEW FDG-PET Scans
- Image Acquisition and Processing for VIEW 18F-FDG PET Scans
- MRI Acquisition and Processing
- CT Acquisition and Processing
